NFT Creators 101: Getting your NFTs sold!

We’ve reached the end of Creators 101, a beginner’s guide for newbies in the NFT world. We’ve talked about the basics of everything creator-related – from minting to pricing your NFTs. But the final question still prevails, and it is the goal that every creator wishes to achieve at the end of the day – how can I get my NFTs sold?

1. Go easy on yourself

get your nfts sold one step at a time

With the growing market and proliferation of NFTs, there is a lot out there you might feel like you’re competing with, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Becoming a successful creator takes time and energy – it is a laborious journey for anyone, so go easy on yourself. Do not feel like just because you haven’t made a sale, that it is not going to work out and you should burn your NFTs. Success arrives from persistence and consistency, so keep at it. ❤️

2. Grow your brand

If you haven’t minted or listed your NFT yet, head to the Creators 101 series for all the tips on how you can do so on Mintable. But if you’ve done all the work of getting your NFT on the platform, it’s time for the next step – which is to grow your brand. Growing your brand can help you stand out as a creator in this vast market, and may help you build a community with strong support for your NFTs. When you have a good following, it helps with strengthening a good base for getting your NFTs seen. This will bring stronger support for your work and brings potential buyers to your doorstep. The more people know of you and follow your work, the more eyes on your items, the higher the possibility of your artwork selling. Establishing a strong identity for yourself as an artist or creator helps grow your brand. People will come to recognize a strong brand and feel more inclined to invest in something that feels consistent and have a larger capacity for resale. Think about strong brands such as Nike and Apple, that generate value and demand for their products simply by them being associated with the brand.

3. Observe the market

Products sell for various reasons, most of which are unpredictable. But if you’re paying enough attention, one or two possible reasons may stand out. This is why it is important to keep an eye out for what is happening in the market. Price is obviously one of the reasons you should be observing the market. Another thing that affects how products move is trends. Imagine if you were trying to sell a fidget spinner these days, it’d be pretty hard to make decent money. But these handheld toys were all the rage just a couple of years ago, and people who capitalized on this trend were able to make good sales. Depending on the time of year, there are also many events that will drive the sales of a particular product up. An example would be an event like the pandemic, which has hiked up sales numbers of many different products. This is no different with NFTs. If you become familiar with what is selling (or not selling) in the NFT space, you are able to make short-term as well as long-term adjustments to see where your NFTs will be most popular, or perhaps it might give you a reason as to why they’re currently not selling.

Depending on what platform you’re on, there are going to be a whole range of resources, features, and tools educating and advising on how you can get that sale you’re looking for. It’s also a good idea to get your item listed on more than one platform, just so you and your creations stand the best chance of being seen by as many buyers as possible.

5. Promote

This is our final advice for all creators looking to get their NFTs sold. Don’t be shy about tooting your own horn – you can never talk about yourself or your work enough. Your NFTs will not sell if it’s just sitting in your inventory and no one knows about it. So go out into the world and promote, promote, promote. Promoting your items will not only bring in potential buyers and grow your fanbase but will also open up the opportunity for you to engage with fellow creators and build a community.
