A historic moment for NFTs
For the first time ever — Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine’s (1888–1944) estate is auctioning off NFTs on Mintable. These NFTs are official W.B.R creations — acting as a digital form of the painting in a new medium, but there is a catch.
The main auction — Abstract Composition — comes with the original 96 year old painting delivered to the buyer of the NFT.
The painting will be shipped worldwide, fully insured for the price of the auction, to the winner with the highest bid. The NFT is delivered immediately upon payment.
The NFT comes with the certificate of authenticity and owner attached as the private file — of which only the current owner of the NFT can access.
Provenance of the painting
1925 — Created by the artist in the artist’s studio
1944 — During the German occupation of France in World War II, Baranoff-Rossiné was deported to Auschwitz, a German concentration camp, and died there. The collection was then inherited by the Baranoff-Rossiné family.

Baranoff-Rossiné (1888–1944) was a Ukrainian, Russian and French painter, sculptor, and inventor who was part of the cubo-futurism movement. Trained at the St. Petersburg Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, he eventually moved to Paris and gained recognition in the local art and culture scene, befriending influential artists of the day including the likes of Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Wassily Kandinsky, and Marc Chagall. His 1910 work ‘Adam and Eve’ was auctioned for US$5.3 million at Christie’s London in 2008. It was the 23rd most expensive painting ever sold at auction by a Russian painter at the time.
