Creating a XUMM Wallet #
Xumm is a non-custodial wallet for the XRP Ledger. A non-custodial wallet means your funds aren’t in XUMM’s custody but ‘lives’ on the XRP Ledger.
XUMM is an XRP ledger client application. Transactions are sent and received live on/by the XRP Ledger.
To create a wallet, download the app via mobile, copy down your secret numbers, and note down your public r-address!
Step 1: Download the Xumm app via mobile.
- For iPhone users, head to the App Store
- For Android users, head to the Play Store
Step 2: Click ‘Add Account’.
- For New Users: Create a New Account > Tap on the checkbox ‘I understand T&Cs’
- For Existing Users: Head to the home screen > Switch account > Add account
OR Head to Settings > Accounts > Add Account
Step 3: Follow the instructions to note down your secret keys.
- Secret keys are made up of 8 rows of 6-digit numbers
- Copy secret numbers and store the confidential information in a safe and secure place – you will need to confirm the secret numbers later
- Using XUMM with a new device will require you to re-enter your secret keys for any accounts you have previously created.
Step 4: Confirm your secret numbers.
Step 5: Once confirmed, your r-address will be displayed.
The R-address (public address) is XRP Ledger account address which starts with the letter r.
Step 6 (Optional): To begin transacting on XRPL, deposit at least 10 XRP into your r-address.
Note: 10 XRP is an XRP ledger requirement to get started verifying your account and allows you to start transacting. It is not a XUMM fee to create an account.
Step 7 (Optional): Name your XUMM account.
Congratulations, you’ve just created a wallet for XRPL!
Some points to note:
- Be careful! Transactions are permanent. XUMM cannot revert transactions or recover funds if you make a mistake. Transactions are instant and irreversible.
- Only you can access your funds with your secret keys, as generated by XUMM or imported into XUMM. The XUMM team cannot access and recover your funds should you make a mistake or lose your secret keys.

- Your recovery phrase is made up of 12 phrases
- Copy secret numbers and store the confidential information in a safe and secure place – you will need to confirm the sequence of your phrases later
Step 5: Top up some crypto

Creating a GateHub Wallet #
GateHub is a platform for the Internet of Value, built on XRP Ledger protocol. It allows everyone to send, receive, trade, and manage assets.
To create or add a wallet, head to GateHub, sign up for an account, note down your recovery phrase, and start trading with your wallet!
Step 1: Head to GateHub‘s Offical Site
Note that GateHub is more suited for browsers.
Step 2: Create a new account or log in to an existing account.
Step 3: Store your Recovery Key in a safe location.
Step 4: You will receive an email from GateHub. Click ‘Activate account’.
Step 5: Click on the confirmation link in the email sent to you.
Step 6: Follow the steps provided and fill out your general information.
Step 7: Scan the QR code to confirm your identification.
Step 8: Authenticate your device with an authentication app.
Step 9: To get started with transactions, make sure your account balance has at least 10 XRP.
